Diásporas

Zózimo Bulbul, the founder of this event, used his cinematic productions to challenge racism and affirm the historical contributions of the black population to the country's development.
The continuity of his legacy is an investment in the black youth to reflect on a possible future with themes such as territories, ancestry, memory, and plural narratives.
Over 16 years, more than 1000 films from Brazil, Africa, the Caribbean, and other Diasporas have been screened in approximately 700 sessions, featuring works by over 200 African filmmakers, 40 from the Caribbean, 50 from other Diasporas, and 700 Brazilian filmmakers.
Today, the event is considered the largest platform for black cinema in Latin America and is recognized by the State Chamber through Bill No. 1546/2022 for its cultural, social, and historical significance for the city of Rio de Janeiro.
